Stanley Makindi, PhD

Prof. Stanley MaingiMakindi is a seasoned Professor of Environmental Science at Machakos University with over 20 years of experience in academia, research, and consultancy. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and specializes in biodiversity conservation, climate change management, Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), and environmental impact assessments. His consultancy portfolio includes work with FAO, IUCN, WWF, and the Water Resources Authority, where he has led major environmental and social impact assessments and contributed to national policy development on riparian land conservation.

Prof. Makindi has extensive experience in Kenya’s diverse landscapes, excelling in multi-stakeholder engagement and community-based natural resource management. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications, supervised numerous postgraduate students, and currently serves as Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Linkages at Machakos University. He is also a licensed NEMA Lead Expert (No. 2782) and an active member of the Environment Institute of Kenya and the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA).
